I recently came across an alarming fact, which even though it has been known for years, one may not realize that 30 years fly by.
The fact is that "unless the situation changes, by 2050 our seas may contain more trash than fish."
Every year, 8 million tons of waste end up in our seas. 640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned on the ocean floor. (data obtained from FAO and UNEP)
The ocean urgently needs help and there are many ways we can make a difference.
From changing our consumption habits to cleaning up beaches, there are tons of options. Whatever we can contribute, it will always add up!
